Mission & Vision
Our mission is to elevate the standard of veterinary technology education, to foster individual development of industry professionals through the student-centered pedagogy, and to promote exemplary patient care.
In 1968, modeled after the human medical concept, Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in Copley, Ohio and was established with a goal in mind — to provide necessary advanced care options for your animals, including emergency and 24-hour care. In early 2022, Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital opened its second location in Highland Heights.
In September 2022, Metropolitan Veterinary Academy was approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools.
Our Veterinary Hospital & School
Our 10-month, Veterinary Assistant diploma program is located within Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital's Akron and Highland Heights locations. Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital is modeled after the human medical concept providing advanced care and a 24-hour emergency department. Our hospital houses eight specialty departments: cardiology, critical care, oncology, neurology, surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and exotics.
What does this mean for you?
Our Veterinary Assistant students will have the unique opportunity to apply their knowledge from the classroom immediately in our 24-hour facility. The opportunities to put the didactic portion of your learning experience to work is endless.
You will learn to be an effective veterinary assistant through the study of office procedures, animal handling and restraint, medical terminology, radiology and ultrasound imaging. You will be able to assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with emergency cases while you work in a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital.
